Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I recemtly moved my linux drive from primary slave to primary master, but now when I boot I get a string of errors. Is there any way to reconfigure linux, or does it mean a reinstall? I've fixed the grub side of things, but dont know what to do to configure kernel, etc.
Do you want to say : "Linux root moved from hdb1 to hda1" ?
because hda2 to hda1, you need to re install, isn't you?
hdb1 to hda1, you need to update /etc/fstab, and your loader to reflect your new target, and maybe do an update of your distrib' !
are you try gnu parted, or system rescue disk (a cd distro to save partition)?
hope can help
Probably, the one and only thing remaining that you need to edit is /etc/fstab. Boot up using a liveCD to edit this file. Replace references to "hdb*" to "hda*".
