Seems to be conflicting with my bios. I am dual booting win 2000 prof.

When I shutdown Linux it just hangs and I have to do a cold boot.

Any ideas would be greatly apreciated.

Where does it hang at? Also what command are you using to shutdown?

Halt and reboot from KDE.

I've had the same problem with 'halt' but not 'reboot'.

Do you get the same results with 'shutdown -h now' or 'shutdown -r now' (the -real- commands for 'halt' and 'reboot' respectively)?

Those work fine for me.

/sbin/shutdown -h now does exactly the same. Screen just goes blank.
