Linux/Open Source Mosaic Software

I'd like to create a mosaic image out of a large collection of photos. Most programs and plugins (like for photoshop) cost a fortune, so I figured that there would be an open-source variant that would be good enough.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I know in Gimp that you can put multiple pictures into one using layers but if that doesnt work out check sourceforge.net, freshmeat.net, and this site http://www.linuxsoft.cz/en/sw_list.php?id_kategory=20 for image editing software. I found a bunch of plug-ins at linuxsoft.cz some of them may prove useful. Good luck with your search

http://arje.net/rasterbator - not open source, but they reckon it will run on Linux if you also install Mono.
