Linux Newbie w/ Questions...

Hi, I'm brand new to linux and am just expiermenting with it on an older computer. What's the best distro to run for a newbie? The machine is a Gateway 2000 Pentium III, 64MB ram, 2 Hard Drives (10-gig, 3-gig). I'm sure this setup is considered a trainwreck but I'm interested to see what Linux can do. Any help is greatly appreciated

i think mandrake, suse, or fedora are great options to start learning linux. i would go with SuSE for starters, but that is if you would like most applications pre installed; which means you may not get anything out of the learning side of linux. when you get a more comfortable, try a distro like slackware, debian, or gentoo.

good luck!

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
