linux media player?
is there a linux media player that might be ported to windows that I can have a friend use? Seems she's having lots of trouble with her Windows Media player. She can't view anything but mpg's. She's tried avi but she gets an error message pop up saying she needs to buy a license for it. Go figure! She's pretty dingy so I'm afraid she'd never be able to handle even the simplest linux distro! (I just taught her how to use her ebay summary page after a long session of teaching her how to copy and paste links in an IM chat session)! Any help would be greatly appreciated

Winamp maybe.
There are tons of windows media players to choose from. |
I know that but she can't get anything but mpg to play. She is wanting to burn but can't even view her movies.

Why don't you be a Gentleman and just fix her WMP for her... if she knows how to use that it would be the easy solution...

As craigevil said, there are lots of media players on Windows. A good portable cross-platform player I know is VLC, but it is by no means the only or necessarily the best such player. Other people might suggest more.

Have
you actually VIEWED the specific files in question successfully yourself on this platform or that? I would not assume that you know what the problem is here really until you have actually gone out of your way to do this
