Linux (Mandrake 9.1) Compatability with Macromedia Studio 2004
 

I don't care which version, Windows or Mac, but I'd like to install Mandrake, but also do my web and application development on my machine.

Is there some way to run Macromedia Studio MX 2004 on linux? Emulator, virtual machine?

i think you can run vmware to do that.

You could try using Wine to run the Windows version but I doubt you'd have much luck. Another solution would be purchasing the quite pricey but cool program VMWare and create a virtual Windows installation under Linux.

My suggestion is you should try the Linux way of doing things. Get a nice editor. :)

As far as HTML goes, I could do it in a text editor. But I do it for pay, so I'm open for quick solutions.... Does the Penguin sport a HTML program as robust as Dreamweaver?

Now, does the Penguin have a Flash/ActionScript compiler (why not, people are working on a linux version of .Net :rolleyes: ).

But Flash is the part I care about. Any HTML Editor could *make do*. Dreamweaver just happens to, by leaps and bounds, be the best HTML editor on Windows/Mac that I've used.

i haven't seen any nice flash solutions under tux cos I haven't been looking. but SVG is an open standard which I have no doubt will soon rival flash in terms of scriptability (at the moment I believe it is just vector graphics for the 'net though). Have a look on the 'net in the coming months and see what develops!
