Linux kernel 2.6.29 on slackware 12.2 - is it possible?

I'm compiling a patched kernel and I need to know if I can use linux kernel 2.6.29 on slackware 12.2 or will this break the system? (Currently I have kernel 2.6.27).

How about using kernel 2.6.21 on Slackware 12.2? Can I do that?

2.6.18 is the minimum required kernel these days.

Ok, so I compiled, but I don't have an arch/x86/boot/bzImage. Instead I have arch/i386/boot/bzImage. But my computer is a PIII, which as far as I know is not the i386 family. Should I go ahead and use the i386 image as it's the only image that was made when I compiled?

Use it; x86 actually links to i386. I even use it on Slamd64 for x86_64. PIIIs can of course still runs i386 code, but i386 is just a generic GNU/Linux term for x86.
