Linux Installation helped required.tried it once,didn't work
i'm a newbie,tried to migrate to linux in the past but didn't work out at all on my system.guess some problems with my Video Card.how to go about installing linux for home pc.
How to install depends largely on the distro you pick. Fedora is good for a first, so in Mandrake...
Mostly it is a matter of downloading the iso's, burning them to cd's, and installing by booting CD1. There are many other options for installation, but if you can boot from CD, that is easy.
If you want to try Fedora, look at this thread for tips:
if the video card is really the problem, you should install in text mode this is a pro since you'll have to make your way in text mode, good to start learning things I think that after installation, you could install / configure the right video drivers tho, wich is of course nice to have... btw, the vesa drivers should work on almost all systems
