Linux Format readers - help me find an FFMPEG software frontend recently reviewed

I recall recently reading a review for a graphical frontend to FFMPEG. I believe that I read it in LinuxFormat at the local bookstore, but I am not sure and the LinuxFormat website isn't too useful for us non-subscribers.

Does anyone know what this might be? I am looking for a powerful but easy GUI for FFMPEG. There is a nice looking GUI for Windows called SUPER, but I don't know of any like this for the Linux world...

Do you know which issue number/month it was? I probably have it kicking around somewhere

Here are their archives. See if that jogs your memory somewhat.

I've been there and looked, but the problem is that I cannot remember the name of it, so finding it in that list is kinda impossible.

This whole point of the thread is just to find a good frontend GUI to ffmpeg. If anyone knows a good one of those, then I don't really care if its been reviewed in LinuxFormat.co.uk or not.

Could it be Qxmp or Phonon?

No, but I am excited about what Phonon will bring to KDE and to free software!

Hmmm, I'm a wee bit stumped then. Can you recall anything else about the issue? Any other articles?

Konverter!

Does Konverter ring a bell to any readers? It actually seems to be a frontend to MEncoder but it does the same job or reformatting and resizing videos. Thats the one I was looking for; I hope its in a magazine and I didn't dream it and then it turns out to be real...

but it doesn't seem to have a Kubuntu 6.06 package or any recent releases at all (June 2005 being the most recent). There is a recently created forum which, at present, is rather empty....

Well, this answers my question. Many thank yous, XavierP for your research!!

No problem. It's never a chore to reread through the mags
