Linux equivalent to Windows key codes
In Windows, you can push Alt-### and get special characters. is there an equivalent key function in Linux?

The alt+keypad gives access to the extended (ansi) characters.
Linux doesn't use them. Instead, we use unicode, which supports a much wider range of characters. This article, though out of date (linux has unparalleled international language support), has a neat section on entering extended (latin) characters: Quote:
