Strike, if you scroll up to the top of the page, you will see that you are the first penguin, who *really* doesn't have a clue. You obviously cant read.

Note that I didn't bald-faced suggest "use SDL", I asked you what your problems with SDL were. So, perhaps I should send YOU a copy of "Hooked on Phonics" instead (and maybe you can learn to spell that way too! ah the irony of being told to learn how to read by someone who can't spell "equivalent").
I don't help people design stupid solutions, and in your case, what you want is almost assuredly SDL. So, until you give me good reasons why you don't want to use SDL, that's all you'll get from me.
I would've appreciated an answer instead of a flame war with an unwanted question of the sort of "why not SDL?", in particular because I've found in StackOverflow that I can achieve what I want through Xlib (I think that's what is called not sure if it's the same as X Window System). Obviously SDL had to solve it somehow and most people writing game frameworks may need to ask how it's been done or they may want to modify SDL behavior or etc. there is a myriad of reasons on why not SDL so it's a stupid question to ask.

Read the LQ Rules...this thread had been closed for FIFTEEN YEARS, before you reopened it.
15 years and yet, the question is still valid. And it seems xlib still doesn't know about double clicks and other functionality that has been common for decades. I wonder how many duplicates of the same unansquered question can be posted as the previous ones get too old.
