OK....in my haste I foolishly forgot to set up a separate /home partition when I installed RedHat 9. I'm gonna be upgrading the motherboard and CPU in my Linux Box soon from a Via to an nForce2 based system so I will want to reinstall Linux. OK, when I looked at the problem of splitting the root partition into two using Partition Magic it appeared to be spreading the data over both the root and new /home partition rather than just keeping it all in the root....didn't look right to me so I cancelled that one

Question is, is there anyway to partition a Linux disk on-the-fly as you can with Windows and Partition Magic?
Also, just looking at it again. In its current configuration PartitionMagic says that the root partition is using 4500MB out of 78000MB. As I make that smaller the amount used goes down rather than staying the same.....very strange
