hii, i am using ubuntu 8.04 and has installed linux dc++ 1.0.1 for connecting to the local hub and file sharing.however every time i start dc++ the processor usage percentage shoots up and a few seconds later it crashes.what could be the reason?also is there any other alternative other than dc++ for connecting to hub and file sharing???please help...
DC++ announces the freedom to share! DC++ is an open source client for Windows for the Direct Connect / Advanced Direct Connect network
I don't see any version for Linux. What was the name of package you installed for Ubuntu? I think Samba is usually used for connecting to Windows boxes.
ciao,
jdk
@jdkaye its called linuxdcpp .you can find it in the synaptic.
Right. I found it as a debian package as well. You might want to run it from within gdb and that may give you a clue about why it's crashing. Just install the gdb package if you don't have it already and then run
Code:
gdb linuxdhpp
run
and wait till it crashes and look at the error messages you get.

@jdkaye hey fixed the crashing problem.you need to turn off the assistive technologies(system>preferences>assistive technologies).dont know whats the link between dc++ and it.but now after connecting to the hub,i am not able to download anything.when double clicking a user to browse his files, after some time, it says connection time out.could this be something wrong with my settings??
I have zero experience with this software. Maybe you can find a forum devoted to dc++ and post your question there. You're not getting much response here.
