Linux/DB2-help Kernel trouble

Hello All,

I just made a fresh install of RedHat Enterprise Linux W.S on a P.C at work. I'm having issues upgrading to the specific kernel that DB2 supports. The updates for RedHat Enterprise Linux W.S , only allows me to select the latest kernel, which is Kernel 2.4.9e-25, Not the 2.4.9e-16 kernel that is supported by DB2.

I was able to find the supported Kernel, but it seems that if it was not installed in a Red hat update then I would have to manipulate a hand full of files in order for RedHat to recognize the new upgraded Kernel. That’s where I'm Stuck, I have yet to find clear instructions how to do this. Redhat's FAQ on this topic is not very clear for someone who doesn't understand Linux inside and out. I am new Intern at my company, and not familar with linux. Any help is most welcomed!!!!!!

This is a very broad question. I suggest that you try starting the install from the beginning and then posting questions about each place where you run into problems.
