Linux Compatible Devices

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab. To my dissapointment it is unable to be mounted to Linux. I found a few website with instructions on how to mount it be so far they haven't worked. I'M really trying to get more and more away from Window$ but I'M finding it difficult. I've had bad luck running my iPod with every media player avaiable on Linux. So I was considering getting a new Samsung mp3 player but of course I'll have the same problem I'M having with my Tab. And as I understand it Android is Linux or Unix bases, how can this be? Though I don't have a a big interest in a smart phone I do like that idea of have my mp3 player and phone in one device. So my real question is what are the best mp3 players or smart phones on the market that work well with Linux and Nautilus?

Not sure whats your problem, but I think the problem is that you are unable to mount your Galaxy Tab on linux to copy files from/to linux and tab.

It that's the problem, you can try another options:
- Share information using wifi.
- Share information using bluetooh.

If you have a wifi, you can share information from linux to tab with programs like Dropbox.

Another way can be to use a program which allows you to share your tab information as "File expert" (Google play).

I've also have a Tab, so if i find a solution, i'll be back...

This link might help. I have no way of testing it; I'm thinking of getting a Galaxy Tab, but haven't succumbed yet.

Hello:

I've an Acer Iconia Tab A501 and I've seen that the problem is the same: I can't mount it as usb_storage for copying files.

But is possible to copy files to/from Tab to your computer.
- Install 'File expert' from google play in your tab.

With that program, you can copy files to/from with:
- An external usb to your tab (you can find the mount in /mnt/usb_storage
- Enabling a ftp sever in File expert and share files using wifi or bluetooth.

I've also tried gmtp and mtpfs.
- mtpfs works for me in Ubuntu 12.04 (copies to/from), but using opensuse 12.2 umounts continuosly and unable to copy files to/from.
- gmtp hast not worked in Ubuntu 12.04 and not in opensuse 12.2 (in opensuse can't run it for dependencies... I use kde).

Not sure if this can help you.

Regards

There's a USB debugging mode in the options. Had you tried that?

I have an Acer Iconia A500. I hadn't had this problem.
