It is because you do have insufficient space. Ubuntu take 2gb, leaving you no space left. You can't just install apps on other hard drive (unless you know what you are doing, and apparently, you don't if you asked this question
).
Applications in Linux are not like in MacOS, they are not folder that you can carry everywhere. They install in a similar way to Windows (in system folders) but add file in many different places (like the icon directory, executable directory, documentation directory and so on). You can move these directories to different disk, but it is not recommanded. Just add more space for Ubuntu, it is the best thing you can do.
