Question Linux audio recorder with squelch of threshold function

I am looking for a linux audio recorder which has a squelch of threshold function.
I want to record audio from a radio-handscanner via line-in, but I only want to record the audio when there is communication and not to record the silences.

Does anyone know if such a recorder exists, and where I can download/install it from?

I am running Fedora Core 5 on an AMD 64-bit machine with 2 Gb RAM.

Thanx in advance,
