Linux app to access iTunes podcast directory?

I keep finding interesting looking podcasts which seem to provide only iTunes links/feeds.

Is there some podcast aggregator which can use these iTunes directory links?

I find that I can access some of them by replacing the itms: with http: grab the data with curl or GET, and put it through gunzip to get an XML file from which I can extract download links, but sometimes the iTunes feeds don't seem to work with this method, plus it's a pain in the backside.
