Linux and windows conflict the marvel yukon gigabit ethernet card on dual boot

I assembled a new rig few weeks ago with Gigabyte DS3 mobo. I created a dual boot install with windows and fedora core 6. before installing linux windows was working stable, however, when I installed linux, this latter started dropping the marvel yukon ethernet connection after a while and so does windows with the same symptoms. a reboot can only fix the problem fro few minutes. I reinstalled the entire system over and over again. but in vain. I even installed each OS in a separate HDD and still the same problem. I got arround it by pluging in a cheap ethernet card and disabling the onboard marvel one but I need to solve the problem to use the gigabit capabilties of the network I'm in.

can anyone help?

This sounds more like the onboard NIC is going to pieces. I cannot imagine that installing Linux would have anything to do with it.

It is starting to sound like a power supply issue. If you pull the linux HD windows works fine? What about if you pull the windows drive?

So what is it then? First you say it doesn't work with either Linux or Windows and then for some reason you change your mind... That's really confusing, you know.

Or are you assuming that the NIC is failing under windows because Linux is installed too? That 's highly unlikely considering that only one can be active at a time. While you're running windows, Linux is deep deep asleep and there is no way it could interfere with windows.

As for the power supply being insufficient, yes, that could be an explanation but only if you
