LinNeighborhood

Well I'm new to linux I guess. Its been about three months of solid running Linux now.

I got Samba setup using Swat on Red Hat 8.0....

Got the Windows 2000 pro computer to recongize the Linux Box....

But was unable to write files from windows to Linux said "not authorized to access folder."

Well to make matters worse I installed LinNeighborhood. At first I could not get a connection so about 3 minutues went bye and all of sudden I had a contection.

I then relized I had to have an account to access the windows 2000 pro. So I used one of my accounts on windows to get access.

Good so far then tryed to access the folder and was given a message about

not smbmount setup or smbunmount in order.

Know what I have comed to relize is

1.) Really swat is ok but doesn't really help much just away to get used to the scripting that I must write.

2.) I like LinNeighborhod but, the Icons are so small and this smbmount and smbunmount is got me puzzled.

3.) Why is it when I use LinNeighborhood it tells me I'm using older files for LinNeighborhood such as smbclient 2.0.7. When I have installed Samba client 2.2.7 on this machine.

Can someone explain question number 3 please.

What I really want to know is what is the best way to go when setting up samba and transfering files to and from windows 2000 pro.

Well talk later....
