link-time libs need to be run0time libs says curl's make install

configure: error: one or more libs available at link-time are not available run-time. Libs used at link-time: -lssh2 -ldl -lz

I've gotten this error twice today and searched all day for an answer. Once on CentOS 4.5 and once on Fedora Core 7.
I still haven't figured out how to enable run-time libs.
Any help would be wonderful, thanks.

amb.
