Unhappy Link/Applet not working in all Linux browsers, but working in IE

Recently removed my old SuSE Linux 9.0 and clean installed - SuSE Linux 9.1.

Running KDE 3.3 (including Konqueror 3.3) and Firefox 0.9.3.

Running the JRE 1.4.2_05 installed directly from the SUN Java site.

Note - I am a newbie. Please be nice ... hehe

I play this game called Runescape (runescape.com). It's simply a Java applet on the html page.

Using Konqueror:

I load the Runescape main page, click "Play Game", cleave the Java setting on Default, click Low Resolution, then click on a Free user world. Then it <seems to> begin loading the applet then it stops. Nothing happens. It just stops with a grey screen. Same for all worlds. Ive testied the Java on other sites and it works fine.

In Mozilla and Firefox and Opera:

I get to the world list page, then even the link to the applet doesnt work.

And they just said they had updated the site's code to support Firefox 0.9.

Anyway, in Windows XP, it works fine in both IE and Firefox.
On my onld SuSE 9.0, running Firefox 0.8, it also worked fine.

Suggestions on how to fix this (if it is something fixable) and reasons why it is happening will be appreciated.

I am also not sure which forum this should go in - correct me if necessary.

Cheers in advance,

MasterPatricko

When you installed Java, did you tell the browsers
about it? That is, created the appropriate symlinks?

ln -s /path/to/your/jre/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so /path/to/mozilla/plugins/

Cheers,
Tink

I did install the Java plugin as per the instructions for Firefox.

I tested the Java with other applets and it works fine in all the browsers that i tested.

Its just Runescape that doesn't work.

The HTML is valid and it works for me in Moz 1.7.2
with jdk 1.4.2_04-b05
However, it didn't work at work for me which makes
me think that it's a firewalling-issue. Outgoing connections
at home are allowed on all ports, at work it's locked down
to the standard ftp and html ports.

Cheers,
Tink

I turned off the firewall and now it works in Mozilla Firefox ... but still doesnt work in Konqueror. Strange indeed.
