Link apache servers?

I'm curious if there is a way to link 2 apache servers. Basically my layout is as follows: (both of these servers are on my lan)

Fedora Core 4: Running apache on port 80. This server has mysql, which is read by a php script and posted on apache.

FreeBSD: Running apache on port 80 and apache-ssl on port 443. I was hoping that I could somehow use virtual hosts on this machine to forward a particular domain to the FC4 server. IE if the client is connecting to sql.mydomain.com it would relay them to FC4. All other port 80 traffic would stay on the FreeBSD box, and obviously all port 443 traffic to the FreeBSD ssl.

I read through the Virtual Host documentation but am not sure if this is possible. If anyone knows of a way please let me know! Thanks ahead of time.

http://httpd.apache.org/docs/1.3/vhosts/

I'm aware I could do this by just having fedora core run off of a different port, but for the sake of the clients convenience I would prefer to have them connect on port 80.

This is possible with:
A) mod_proxy reverse proxy
B) an html page on the FreeBSD box that redirects users to the FC4 box
