Question lilo hangs when other OS is chosen

First, I'm new to Linux. I want to learn and have considerable experience with NetWare. But that's not helping me right now.

Here's the issue. I installed Mandrake 8.1 on a machine that already had Windows 98. (It also has two hard drives, and I believe Linux was installed on the first drive - but not entirely sure.) The install went fine and Linux works great. Now, however, when I try to choose Windows in Lilo, it starts and then just sits there. I went into the Mandrake Control Center to see if Lilo was not configured correctly, but as far as I can tell, it's OK.

But the much more baffling part is, a Linux boot disk will work great, but any type of DOS boot disk will not. Once again, it starts, and then hangs. (Yes, I've checked the disk on other machines and it's fine.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Tom
