Unhappy LILO boot problem 'L'

Hi all,

I am new to Linux and very excited about it, but been facing some booting problems. I've installed RH8 but I can't get LILO to work. Try several things but keep getting the sinle 'L' and doesn't provide me with any error code.

I am using windows boot loader for this, and able to boot windows fine from the loader, but when I try to boot linux I get the 'L' and stays there forever.

Before trying the windows loader I tried the LILO installing it on my MBR and got the same 'L'. I though it was the loder and went to use Windows loader witht the same result. Then moved all the linux partitions within the 1024 boundary, and still the same....

Here is how my 2 HDs are config:
First HD: Master HD with 80Gb, four FAT32 partitions. Windows 2k is installed on C partition.

Second HD: Slave HD with 30Gb, 5 partitions (the first three partitions /, /boot and /swap are within the 1024). The last two are FAT32. This is were linux rh8 is installed.

Any hints would be really appreciated,
Rommel

Thanks for the info darthtux. Actually I found that the problem was not at all software related. The problem was that for some reason the BIOS was not detectign the second HD after the linux instalation. While booting I always overlooked that while the PC was booting. What I did was to go to the BIOS and make sure the HD was being detected, after that everythiong has been working fine.
