Lightweight MythTV?

I'm moving a box that is currently running Windows Media Center to FreeBSD and I'm looking for something preferebly pretty lightweight
to run on it. MythTV would work but I just want to playback movies etc so it's a bit of overkill and was looking for maybe a simpler suggestion?

One advantage of MythTV is that it does everything. Your box could become a TV / DVD player / CD player / music player (MP3s etc) / web browser / get weather info / wash dishes ...
