LightScribe - Printing requires root privileges.
I have an HP Pavilion notebook running Ubuntu 9.04 and it has a lightscribe enabled DVD burner. Whenever I try to print a label using the LaCie Lightscribe Simple Labeler the program starts, I create the label but when I tell it to print I get an error message saying " Printing requires root privileges".
I have tried starting the program with the icon, from a terminal using both "sudo" and "gksudo" and from a root terminal. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. ogee |
I notice this thread has had no reply so I'll throw an idea at you.
I understand that there are TWO*items that may need to be installed to print to a Lightscribe: Simple Labeller (which you have) and the "host" program available from http://www.lacie.com/support/drivers...r.htm?id=10095. You will be dealing with an RPM file. See if this helps. Good luck. |
Caballero,
Thanks for the reply. I now have Lightscribe starting the labeling but when the progress bar gets to about 50% it gives me a message saying "LightScribe labeling has been canceled." Then an "ERROR" dialogue box pops up and says: "A communications error has occured with the LightScribe drive. Please restart your PC and try the label again. " Of course restarting has no effect, I just get the above messages again. Getting to be a bit frustrating. Thanks again, ogee |
