LICQ install help

Hello I have Mandrake 8.0

I went to and downloaded a new version of LICQ because mine will no longer connect to the ICQ servers.

When I double click on the file that I downloaded, (a .rpm) a wizard rpminst comes up and gives this message:

"Software Installer: Errors Found
Some errors where encountered while checking your wishes:
Packages already installed
/home/[path here of the rpm]
Sorry, but all packages raised an error. So I can't proceed with the installation"
(spelling error is the program author's)

What does this error mean, I have not currently installed the package, the install never goes all the way through. If it is installed, then where is it?

I cannot install the source file way because I don't think make and install work on my computer.

Thanks for any help.

run rpm -e licq just to be sure, then install the rpm from a virtual terminal (like xterm, konsole,eterm...) like this:
rpm -ivh <packagename>
