Licq 1.3.6 runs as too many processes

Hello. Since about a week ago, my installation of Licq (version 1.3.6 on debian sid/experimental amd64, xorg 7.4, kernel 2.6.28) has been acting strangely. It runs as way too many processes, in htop I can see several hundreds of /usr/bin/licq entries, I have 1130 tasks in total and as a result, htop itself is taking some 10% of the cpu, which makes it paradoxically the most consuming process. How is it possible? Should anything be done about it?

Well, today it stopped by itself. I really don't why. Maybe the key binding which I use to launch Licq stuck and Licq was thus launching repeatedly. However, that's happened to me before and has influenced performance of the system significantly, which was not the case with the problem in question. (Also it wouldn't explain why the number of processes didn't exceed 1130.) Should the problem occur again, I'll look into it some further.
