libstdc++.so.6: cannot open shared object file:

Hello all,

I've a problem when loading a ".so" library to my java application in Red Hat Linux 9 ..

The error i got

Quote:
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError:
/root/Matrix/Test/nativeLib/libHAWKNativeService.so: libstdc++.so.6:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.
why is the reason for not loading the library and whats this libstdc++.so.6 use for. but this application works in ubuntu 8.10 perfectly.

1. Is this is related to the gcc version i use..?
if it is yes! whats is the solution for that?

2. In which gcc version does this libstdc++.so.6 include...?

3. where i can get the new version of gcc to run my application in Red Hat Linux 9.

Please help me on this matter......

Best Regards,
Hasantha

In Red Hat linux 9 the libstdc++ library is at maximum version 5. I doubt you can install the libstdc++.so.6 from a RPM, since RH9 has been discontinued a lot of time ago. Maybe you can compile it from source... maybe! If you want to try the manual installation, go to http://gcc.gnu.org/ and compile GCC version 4. Good luck!
