libSDL could not be found

hi,

i am trying to compile UAE with SDL support and have libSDL1.2 installed. I did ./configure and got:

Code:

checking for graphics target to build... configure: WARNING: SDL support wanted, but libSDL could not be found
none
configure: error: Could not find a useable graphics target

Even though it looks silly to point that out i put a symlink /usr/lib/libSDL.so to /usr/lib/libSDL-1.2.so.0.7.0 and added --with-sdl-prefix=/usr/lib/ to the line but no success.

what am i doing wrong?

Try putting the path to SDL in /etc/ld.so.conf and then run ldconfg to update the dynamic linker ..

man ldconfig

No, didn't help. Still same error.

What exactly is missing when libSDL is missing - is it libSDL.so ?
