LibreOffice .xlsx files are huge

Hello All,
I am using LibreOffice 3.5.7 on Fedora 17 x86_64.
I open a .xlsx (about 70kB from Excel) and add a small amount of data and save.
If I save as .ods the filesize is about 60kB
If I save as .xls the filesize is about 6.7MB
if I save as .xlsx the filesize is about 1.1MB

Can LO save the .xls and .xlsx in a compressed format?

I initially thought it might be a setting in 'options', but haven't seen anything.

Cheers
Terry

No solution, but this appears to be an issue with LibreOffice "save as" to certain MS formats. I found a couple of threads at libreoffice.org/:

http://ask.libreoffice.org/question/...in-xls-format/

http://ask.libreoffice.org/question/...s-bigger-when/

What happens when you compress the files with tar.gz or zip?

Thanks for the links.
If I compress the filesize comes down to close to the .ods filesize, but one shouldn't have to.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers,
Terry

You might consider filing a bug report.
