LibreOffice calc quick question
Hi, I think I am missing something obvious here so any advice appreciated.
I have a spreadsheet to calculate weekly earnings based on a single hourly rate.
For the sake of an example let's say the hourly rate is in cell L2. The daily hours are in column D and the earnings per day are calculated in column F.
So
Quote:
F4 = D4 * L2
F5 = D5 * L2
F6 = D6 * L2
|
and so on.
I would like to drag the F column down rather than typing in the formula every time. This increments the "D" column correctly but it also increments the "L" column which destroys the formula.
Is there a simple method of copying a formula, changing one variable but not another?
Cheers

When you create a formula, a little black square will appear to the bottom right of the "sum" cell.
Left-click and hold on that little black square and drag the mouse down. Cells will be highlighted and the formula will be replicated with appropriate values as you drag the mouse down.

thanks.
Unfortunately this changes both variables in the equation. I do not want the second variable to change.
Cheers

I'm not sure that I have understood your question correctly (and this dragging method is not one that I would use), but, if, instead of 'L2' you use '$L$2', doesn't that do it?
