LibreOffice 5.1.4.2 10(Build:2) - Calc crashes after two or three edits
 

I have just run a system update on my Fedora 24 system which updated my Libre Office installation to 5.1.4.2 10(Build:2). Now, if I click on a cell and drag downwards to auto-fill the cells with the formula in the first, everything seems fine, but as soon as I click in another cell the program hangs and eventually crashes. I have tried saving the file as a new file, but the new one has the same problem. I have tried 'Copy' to move the sheet into a new document, but the new one has the same problem.

I have tried multiple edits in Writer and that seems to be functioning fine - the issue appears to be with Calc only.

Has anyone else had the same problem?

I have filed a bug (https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/....cgi?id=100828) in case no-one else here has experienced the same issue.

A couple of thoughts which leap out at me...I assume you updated using dnf, therefore your home directory is the same as before. Could you try renaming the LO config files just in case:

And another thought just in case. Have you tried removing LO and reinstalling? Install the version of LO from their website rather than that from the Fedora repos?

Neither of these should make any difference but you never know.

I tried renaming the .config/libreoffice/4 directory : problem remained.
dnf remove libreoffice* then dnf install libreoffice* : problem remained.
dnf remove libreoffice*; download and install latest release from LibreOffice site : problem SOLVED.

I really knew I would have to do all that, but wishful thinking had me hanging on to the version fetched by dnf. Now I will have to keep an eye on it, to ensure subsequent updates are fetched by dnf - wishful thinking again?

Anyway, your prodding has made me do what I should have done in the first place, so thank you very much for taking the time to reply.

I run a nightly dnf update but I tend to download the latest from the LO website - I don't get LO updates via "dnf upgrade". However, I am quite prompt. I have never waited for Fedora to provide the update. I have always felt that by removing the Fedora version you have "opted out" of that update facility. Interested to know whether the repos will provide an update if you wait long enough.

I'll keep this reminder open and endeavour to get back to you on whether dnf picks up the slack, or whether I am now constrained to doing my own updates from the LO site. It will have to wait until the Fedora repo version exceeds the one I now have installed.

In case anyone is following this thread, I found installing locally confused dnf and it did not see the latest version arrive in the Fedora repos. I had to "dnf remove libreoffice-xxxx ..." to remove the locally installed version, then "dnf install libreoffice-xxxx ..." installed the latest version from the repo. True, if interesting.

The latest version from the repos (5.1.5.2-1) does not exhibit the problematic behaviour this thread was initiated for, so all is now well. Thanks for all the help.
