Libra Office crashes on startup (CentOS 7)
I'm running CentOS Linux release 7.0.1406 (core).
LibreOffice Writer now crashes on startup. I don't have anything but the stock repository. I ran an update in the last week and the next time I tried to run LibreOffice Writer, it started doing this. It errors out as soon as it starts up. I tried the remaining LibreOffice modules (calc, draw, impress), and all these fail with same error.
dmesg shows :
soffice.bin[24271]: segfault at ffffffff ip 00007f3dc2132f61 sp 00007fffd608cab0 error 4 in libfwklo.so[7f3dc1fdf000+319000]
I googled, "libfwklo.so error 4" with only a few hits on the library, not "error 4", and all attempts to follow those solutions failed, because paths were not right for my implementation, or commands were not the same for my O/S.
I have full crash reports in my mail system.
Thanks,

Where did you get your copy of libreoffice? Was it the regular CentOS package? libfwklo.so comes with the libreoffice-core package. This suggests you installed the wrong version, the wrong architecture or have missing dependencies.

OK, thanks.
In response, I ran:
yum remove libreoffice*
followed by,
yum install libreoffice*
This worked, and libreoffice now works once again for me.
However, what it removed was ~285 Mb and what it installed was ~1800 Mb in size. I saw a lot of language files being installed. How would I remove these? I only need English.
Thanks,

I was able to remove any language by using CentOS' System Tools/Software app. In it you can query for Libreoffice*, and then de-select any language listed. You can also de-select other packages, with the system warning you if you mind also removing any associated packages. (I unchecked the default, "don't show me this list again" in the pop up window of dependent packages the first time it appeared. Of course I'd want to know this in the future!)
Thanks.
