Libmng problems [SOLVED]

Hey there

I'm trying to compile bootsplash 3.2 but I get this error
Code:
gcc -Os -Wall -I/usr/include/freetype2 -L/usr/lib -o splash -L/usr/lib splash.o /usr/lib/libmng-mini.a -lz -lm
gcc: /usr/lib/libmng-mini.a: No such file or directory
make: *** [splash] Error 1
Now I recompiled libmng over and over again , tried 3 different versions and none of them includes libmng-mini.a

Did I miss something out here?
