libinput makes devices unresponsive

Synaptics driver does not have some features that I need so I was advised to switch to libinput. I have a lot of problems configuring, though. When I install, before restarting X I can see that my system detects 2 touchpads - PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad and DLL0665:01 06CB:76AD Touchpad. I make a configuration file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/99-libinput.conf with contents
Quote:
Section "InputClass"
Identifier "libinput touchpad catchall"
MatchIsTouchpad "on"
MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
Driver "libinput"
EndSection
After I restart X the touchpad is entirely unresponsive. xinput list does not list the DLL0665:01 06CB:76AD device anymore (to my understanding this is the device that libinput is supposed to control). When I list the settings of the other touchpad, it shows that it is handled by evdev and not by the synaptics driver. I tried blacklisting synaptics as well, but still no result. When I put the relevant section for my keyboard, it also stopped working.

What am I doing wrong? How should I properly configure it? My distro is Slackware 14.2.

I'm using /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/30-touchpad.conf:
Code:
Section "InputClass"
        Identifier "SynPS/2 Synaptics Touchpad"
        MatchIsTouchpad "on"
        Driver "libinput"
        Option "Tapping" "on"
EndSection
and /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/90-libinput.conf:
Code:
Section "InputClass"
        Identifier "libinput"
        MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
        Driver "libinput"
EndSection

Hi, thanks for your reply. After some debugging I realized my system does not find the driver. When I check Xorg.0.log it says

Quote:
LoadModule: "libinput"
Warning, couldn't open module libinput
UnloadModule: "libinput"
Failed to load module "libinput" (module does not exist, 0)
No input driver matching "libinput"
Where did you install the driver from?

libinput is conceived for Wayland. In order to use it with traditional XOrg, you need to install the xf86-input-libinput wrapper driver in addition to the basic libinput library.

This should help: https://github.com/PhantomX/slackbui...input-libinput
