libc problem ....

my libc-2.7.so has been renamed as Libc-2.7.so. Now I am not able to use commands like cp/ln etc to rename it back.

What can be done now ?
Can I rename it through windows XP stored in the same machine ?

boot your install cd to rescue mode and fix it, I wouldn't advise fixing it through xp

Try to set LD_PRELOAD to Libc-2.7.so,

So the loader won't look for "libc" because all the symbols already resolved.

I'm not going to check this on my system though

export did not work so I could not use LD_PRELOAD.

But I found many solutions for this.
1. use explore2fs in windows to backup your important data, if they are not in proper partitions.
2. use live usb/cd to boot and mount your file system for recovery
3. go to linux resue mode for correction.
4. if nothing works take backup by step 1 (atleast), and put fresh linux by upgrading your linux.

Thanks for your reply.
