libalut.so.0 missing

Hi, I use Debian Lenny,

I tried to install openmovieeditor, however once I installed it (from Debian repositories) every time I ran the program, it restarted X. For this reason I removed it and the same happens with blender now. It used to work fine, now everytime I run blender the X restart. I removed blender and went to download its latest version from blender's website.

Now when I want to run the latest blender, I get the following error:

Quote:
./blender: error while loading shared libraries: libalut.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
How can I install it?

thanks

Have you tried apt-getting it or going via Synaptic for it? Just search for libalut. It's probably worth while grabbing libalut-dev also.

thanks, actually it was libalut0 and libalut-dev. But the problem remains the same - it just restarts X.
Any ideas?
which log would be useful to read?

I was having a problem getting Blender to run and I was getting an error message about a missing libalut.

I picked up an install download at an rpm site that solved the problem it looks good now.

try a search for

libalut-1.1.0-alt1.2.i586.rpm

I know there can be issues with other Distro's I'm running using a Mandriva distro from a magazine with a KDE desktop.

All I am saying is this worked for me and when your beating your head against the wall it does feel good to stop.

Alright, everything is sorted. X restarts had nothing to do with blender, I realised it when other applications using 3D started doing the same. I reinstalled Nvidia drivers and everything is fine.

thanks
