lftp: multiple parallel sessions yield Login incorrect

Hi, Just started using lftp on RHEL Server 5.11. When backgrounding multiple lftp sessions, I get "Login incorrect". But when transmitting files in series (rather than parallel), all of the lftp transfers work.

For example, a script which doesn't background the individual lftp's works:

<extract file1 from database>
lftp sftp://my_server -e "cd /; put file1.dmp; bye" -u myuser,mypass
<extract file2 from database>
lftp sftp://my_server -e "cd /; put file1.dmp; bye" -u myuser,mypass
<extract file3 from database>
lftp sftp://my_server -e "cd /; put file1.dmp; bye" -u myuser,mypass
<extract file4 from database>
lftp sftp://my_server -e "cd /; put file1.dmp; bye" -u myuser,mypass
<extract file5 from database>
lftp sftp://my_server -e "cd /; put file1.dmp; bye" -u myuser,mypass

But a script which backgrounds the individual lftp's causes some of the sessions to throw errors like "cd: Login failed: Login incorrect" and "put: Login failed: Login incorrect":

<extract file1 from database>
lftp sftp://my_server -e "cd /; put file1.dmp; bye" -u myuser,mypass &
<extract file2 from database>
lftp sftp://my_server -e "cd /; put file1.dmp; bye" -u myuser,mypass &
<extract file3 from database>
lftp sftp://my_server -e "cd /; put file1.dmp; bye" -u myuser,mypass &
<extract file4 from database>
lftp sftp://my_server -e "cd /; put file1.dmp; bye" -u myuser,mypass &
<extract file5 from database>
lftp sftp://my_server -e "cd /; put file1.dmp; bye" -u myuser,mypass &

What causes lftp to behave this way?

Thank you in advance,
Wade

lftp Login failed due to ftp server session limit

Hi, I am posting a follow up because I found my own root cause. Apparently the system admin has a concurrent session limit on this particular ftp server (my_server). I experimented by manually logging in from multiple terminal sessions. After 3 concurrent logins, the 4th one raised the "Login failed: Login incorrect" error as soon as I tried to do any operation.
