Lexmark printer
I have 2 problems.
I'm running a dual boot system; Windows 98 & Mandrake 10. I can't get my printer or scanner to be read in Linux. The printer is a Lexmark Z 10. The scanner is a Mustek EP 600 III. Both work OK in Windows, I would like to get them to work In Linux/Mandrake, does anybody have any ideas? |
I bet they are both USB, right? You have to have USB support builtin the kernel and the USB service started.

Have you tried to look for the right drivers at :
http://linuxprinting.org (for the printer) and http://www.gjaeger.de/scanner/plustek.html#usb (for the scanner) Hope that helps |
No, unfortunately they are not usb. Both are Parellel port ? , but they are definately not usb.
I found a Lexmark printer driver, in the Linuxprinting page, now should I download that from Mandrake or will a Windows download work just as well. I'm new with Linux, and not willing to get bogged down anymore than I need to. Thanks, Jack p.s. The Mustek page didn't show my scanner ( as it's not usb). I have the drivers for both in Windows. |
