Question Lenovo P500 brightness issue linux

My friend has a lenovo P500 laptop, and it has a brightness issue. The issue is that the brightness is on like the lowest setting and even though the interface controls register adjustment the brightness will not change. He even tried Xinput commands.

On windows people reported a driver update that made the brightness stick on lowest brightness and not change. Rolling back the drivers would solve it. But on elementary OS, how would one get drivers that would solve this issue?

Or is there another way to solve this issue?

I have a lenovo laptop that had the same issue on one distro that I tried, but I don't remember which one that was.
It has never done it on any of the distros I now use though.

add "acpi_backlight=vendor" to the option "GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT" in the /etc/default/grub file. Do not forget to run "update-grub" and reboot.
