Lightbulb Leafpad alternative help

Hi,

I am trying to find an alternative to Leafpad. I really like it's simplicity. I basically want Leafpad with these extra features:
-Automatic columns: this is a bit specific, but I'd love for the editor to create automatic columns (so it reads like a newspaper) instead of it needlessly carrying on so I keep having to scroll. Basically I want to easily see all the text on the screen.
-To be able to edit certain portions of the text rather than ALL the text being edited when I change the font size, italics/bold/underline etc.

Thanks!
Jesse

Welcome to LQ!

I've never seen a text editor with the features you're seeking, although I've only used a dozen so one may exist somewhere. Creating columns would be quite complex to achieve, while a text editor that featured formating would really be a word-processor. There are text editors that will automatically highlight syntax in programs or html, like Geany or Bluefish.

You could just try the text editors available for your distribution and see if you prefer one of them to Leafpad, or look at
