Question ldap: ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49) (using user migrated with padl)

I have uploaded users from a box to a ldap service using (only that script, no other).

The info is already in the ldap, but when I try to login to the directory using one of these users, I just get rejected.

ldapsearch -h -b dc=fake,dc=domain,dc=com -W -x -D uid=ecarmona,ou=People,dc=fake,dc=domain,dc=co -s base objectClass="*"
Enter LDAP Password:
ldap_bind: Invalid credentials (49)
From slapcat
dn: uid=ecarmona,ou=People,dc=fake,dc=domain,dc=com
uid: ecarmona
cn: Edmundo
objectClass: account
objectClass: posixAccount
objectClass: top
objectClass: shadowAccount

shadowWarning: 7
loginShell: /bin/bash
uidNumber: 1008
gidNumber: 100
homeDirectory: /home/ecarmona
gecos: Edmundo
structuralObjectClass: account
entryUUID: 51231498-0efd-102d-93ed-7fc299d8e974

modifiersName: cn=root,dc=fake,dc=domain,dc=com
modifyTimestamp: 20080904184457Z
What am I missing? I'm sure the password I'm using is the password that I have in the box where the info came from.... so?

Thanks in advance.

OK.... a little step forward.

I have being trying to load the users from a SLES 10 (unpatched, by the way) to an ldap service in an ubuntu 8.04 box. As an experiment I tried migrating the users from the ubuntu box itself... and it worked flawlessly! Now.... as another experiment, I copied the /etc/passwd and shadow from the SLES to the ubuntu box and tried with a modified migrate_passwd (that used this shadow instead of /etc/shadow) and then it broke again. That makes me think the problem is the way the SLES is creating the hashes of the passwords in /etc/shadow. Any ideas about it?
