Unhappy latte dock

Hello everybody.
I use latte dock and I usually update my apps with apt upgrade , recently i updated all of them and my latte dock background is now visible although it was blur! The background setting is also locked. what can i do ??? I reinstalled my holl OS and it is still not working. I believe it is not the latte update. it must be some kind of library it uses. any help ????

hi, and welcome here, at LQ

unfortunately hard to say anything without details.
What OS, how did you install and what .... reinstalling the OS is not the best way to solve an issue like this.

yes you are right i didn't give you much information. sorry don't know much English. I use KUBUNTU 20.04 and i have problem with latte dock app specifically with the background of my dock . it was OK until i updated my applications with apt upgrade. i don't know how to see the logs or downgrade things. now my dock background setting is locked and i cant make any change to it.Click image for larger version

ID:	35061 you can see in this picture. i cant enable the button so that i can make any change to the background. I deleted the app with sudo apt autoremove. I also purged the app. I reinstalled the app and the problem was still there. i reinstalled the hole OS and formatted my partitions :/ . I believe the problem is not for the app because after i reinstalled the OS and installed latte dock , it was ok again. then I used sudo apt upgrade to upgrade my new installed OS and the problem was back again.

would be nice to know what was installed first and what's happened (what was installed) during that upgrade.
Also you may check the versions here: https://invent.kde.org/plasma/latte-dock
or probably try to upgrade this latte dock (if possible).
For me it looks like a bug and need to be reported.

Maybe you should try doing the reinstall and upgrade in a different order, ie. reinstall the OS, upgrade the OS, then reinstall latte dock. If the problem remains that points to a problem between some updated app/libraries used by latte dock instead of latte dock.

As Einstein said, repeating the same thing and expecting different results is insanity. Changing what is done allows one to identify the differences and their causes.

Even finer detail could be gotten by installing the OS, installing latte dock and verify it is working properly. Then install one at a time the upgrades, each time checking the performance of latte dock to see which one actually causes the problem. That would make it possible to identify and report the problem with hope that the bug may be fixed.
