LaTex vs teText

Hello there. I'm a little confuse about Tex. I use Mandriva 2006 and in the distribution kit I have teTex text formatting system. I don't understand if LaTex and teText are same or there are some differences? Thanx

teTex is the most common distribution of TeX/LaTeX on Linux
