I Cannot figure out why Nvidia will not display the splash screen at reboot. I Removed the intel_agp profile from modprobe.preload so it wont load my Onboard graphics board and out of options [on and Auto] in Bios for the Onboard graphics card i selected Auto... lsmod shows intel_agp didnt load. ok good..
I Uninstalled nvidia drivers, then Reinstalled the nvidia drivers... no splash screen, cannot play games in cedega... glxgears works.. Noone can seem to help me with this, like its impossible to figure out.
I will Donate 50 Dollars to linuxquestion.org if someone can figure out why the nvidia splash screen will not show up and why i get a rainbow when I Test settings in XFdrake and cannot play games in Cedega...

ok, agp is for video cards. I know that fglrx needs an agp module, I'm not sure about nvidia, but I guess so. Why would you remove it? Anyways...
In XFdrake, when you go through the setup, make sure to select 3d rendering enabled Xorg server to have 3d rendering working, but as in the message above, if it says it works... it works I don't see the problem so far.
As far as splash screen goes, I know there is suppose to be a splash screen normally, but if it doesn't show up, it's either because it isn't loaded, or because there is an option somewhere to deactivate the splash screen that mandrake enabled.
Talking about enabling and installing, what steps did you take to install your card? What does lspci output? lsmod? and what modules does the system automaticaly loads?
*edit*
I should add that if cedega doesn't want to work while 3d rendering seems to work from glxinfo, maybe it's a cedega specific problem. What is the output of cedega when you load it?
*edit2*
in this post: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...20#post1970420
linmix shows it possible to disable the logo screen. Hence, the module may be loaded (explaining why direct rendering seems enabled), but that would only show up in lsmod... You may have everything already setup for 3d rendering. The problem might be cedega.
What is the FPS of glxgears?
*edit3*
It's very kind of you to donate to LQ.

Battlefield Vietnam installs fine, then gets to the BF Vietnam Splash screen before turning black for 3 seconds and booting me back out. The only information the konsole i opened cedega with gives me is this:

Same with CounterStrike: Source... gets to Splash screen then freezes. I Beggining to think Cedega, as much hype as it has, really is not that great.. let me rephrase, it needs ALOT of work. Linux is great however
Edit*
Also Heres xorg.conf (to see why splash screen isnt loading)

I see from lspci that you have a weaker intel graphic card, and don't want the intel card to work. That makes sense, however, removing intel_agp doesn't make much a difference, intel_agp is for 3d rendering only, not to load the card. Although, this does save a bit of memory.
Your system requires the use of pthreads but the maximum system allowed stack size of 2052 kB may be too small for some games.
If you experience problems, try rerunning with "-use-pthreads no" which may help.
Great Help, Ill definetly Give that a try and reinstall Cedega and test out that pthreads tip you gave me and get back to you in about an hour... Thank you for your vast canyon of information and quick replys!
Well mimithebrain, Your help was greatly appreciated. I guess the NVidia Drivers were already installed good and it WAS Cedega... Because the new version of Cedega 5.1.4 JUST CAME OUT, and supports the Counter-Strike Source update made over steam. So It was not my drivers, it was Cedega... and Battlefield Vietnam I guess just doesnt work in Cedega. Great, I cannot buy Cedega though because I have AMerican Express and they do not accept it, and I do not want to do the CVS install its hard and tedious. I will just wait till my frienf gets it
Edit: For your Kind help and fast replys I will continue to Contribute to linuxquestions.org because Their cause is GREAT appreciated to New and Advanced Users of Linux alike. Dang Cedega! Dang Splash Screen!
