Laptop Webcam showing Strange Green Images in OBS
 

I'm slowly figuring out how to work OBS, but this situation with the webcam has me stumped. It's not just flat-out not working, but I'm seeing contour lines of myself. What's going on?

have you tried playing with the different video formats in the dropdown menu?

The only formats available are YV12 and YUYV. I've never even heard of those.

ok, there's a lot of options to play with in your screenshot, try them all out in different permutations and see if it has an effect on the image.

also, what's OBS?

does other webcam software work as expected?

I've fiddled with every combination of options I could find, and it's exactly the same thing.

Open Broadcast Software. I've also tried Cheese, which works perfectly. OBS is for streaming, and has support for multiple inputs that can be re-arranged on the fly. Cheese just records video and images.

Ok, it's a little fiddly, but I got it to work by capturing the webcam with Cheese, then capturing Cheese's window with OBS. Thanks!
