laptop installation

I tried to install Linux 7 on my laptop to no avail. I had win 98 on the drive and decided to get rid of it in lieu of Linux. I created a boot floppy in Linux then reformatted my hard drive. The installlation menu starts fine, performs a hardware check, and prompts me to enter my keyboard type in text mode. The fun ends when I am prompted to enter the location of my Linux files. The default is HARDDRIVE which can't be changed. Of course there are no files on the harddrive so I am stuck. Please help!!!!

Are you trying to install it in text mode? Just pick up the 7.1 ISOs and install in graphical mode. It's pretty simple from there.
