Angry lag in XWindows !

Hey everyone,

I just installed a brand new copy of RedHat 8.0, during the install I opted for everything. After install, I turned off any services I don't immediately need, so I don't have a bunch of extra stuff running in the background.

The problem: Pentuim 3 - 450 - Whenever opening ANY application under X, from mozilla, to konquer, to ANYTHING, there is about a 4-5 second delay for the application to open up. It's a dual boot with Win2k, the windoze environment doesen't have any kind of delay which makes my mind boggle.

I have 4x 128meg sticks of memory which I'm going to do a burn test on over the night tonight to see if there is any sort of leak from there..,

Any ideas on what might cause this delay?

Thanks,
Tim

i'd guess you're using KDE3, so that'll be the most likely cause for slowness on a rapidly aging machine.
